NIMAS Implementation Advisory Council (2007–2009)
The purpose of the National Instructional Materials Accessibility Standard Implementation Advisory Council (NIMAS Implementation Advisory Council) was to maintain, advance, and support the adoption of the NIMAS at the state level. These activities were designed to facilitate the timely provision of accessible versions of core print instructional materials to qualifying students. Membership included state NIMAS leaders/coordinators, state assistive technology (AT) agencies staff, NIMAS Technical Assistance Center staff, the National Instructional Materials Access Center (NIMAC) staff, curriculum publishers, and experts in the production of Braille, audio, e-text, and large print products. NIMAS Implementation Advisory Council members were appointed by the NIMAS Technical Assistance Center to a two-year renewable term. Subsequent member nominations were submitted to the NIMAS Technical Assistance Center and to the Council. Following initial appointments in the Fall of 2007, governance procedures and membership were publicized on the NIMAS web site, and meetings of both groups were open to the public.
The Council was disbanded in 2009. Download the zip file archives for the Council below.
