EVENT: Presentation: Restructuring in the Rapids: Leading the Way with Universal Design for Learning
LOCATION: Midwest Educational Leadership Conference; Breckenridge, CO
TOPIC: Are you responsible for ensuring that learning environments encourage and support the participation and achievement of each student? Wondering what UDL means to you? What it’s all about ... where it came from ... if "universal" really means all students, even those with intensive support needs ... how UDL "fits" with other important initiatives ... and, what resources and tools are "out there" to help you? Explore these questions and more in this lively session that begins with a brief look at the foundations of universal design for learning (UDL). Participants will see examples of UDL in action and discuss how special education supports and services such as assistive technology (AT) and accessible instructional materials (AIM) complement UDL when students have more intensive support needs.
